TIS Grupa Moves to the Hepta Cloud and Improves Availability and Performance With a Hybrid Cloud Solution.

Intro

TIS is a software company with over 30 years of experience in providing software solutions for the financial, telecommunications, manufacturing, transportation, and logistics industries. The company wanted to move away from its on-premises infrastructure solution to a modern and reliable cloud hosted in Croatia. The goal was to migrate all business-critical applications to a cloud while keeping testing and development environments on-premises.

Heptabit provided a hybrid cloud solution based on its Hepta cloud solution. The provided solution satisfied all the TIS's needs and help them solve infrastructure management complexities, networking, high-availability, performance, and backup problems.

TIS group is a software company established in 1989. For 30 years, TIS has been developing, implementing, and maintaining innovative ICT solutions that affect millions of users. The company is recognized as a reliable partner in the development of innovative business solutions in the financial, telecommunications, manufacturing, transportation, and logistics industries, as well as in the public sector.

The TIS Group team consists of more than 120 specialized experts united in four subsidiary companies with headquarters in Croatia and the offices in Slovenia and the United Kingdom.

The Problem

TIS exists for more than 30 years; since the beginning, the company has been building its own infrastructure solution for internal business apps and test/development environments. Throughout the year's system administrators implemented their policies, technologies, solutions, and the way of work. With somewhat dated hardware and certain problems with system administration, important systems became hard to maintain.

The company decided to move away from its on-premises solution and adopt a modern cloud solution. Because of their client's policies, one of the primary objectives was to find a specialized cloud provider with data centers residing in Croatia.

Why Hepta Cloud?

One of the first requirements was to find a cloud solution hosted in datacenters in Croatia. Some of TIS's clients have very strict policies in managing their data; that's why keeping things in local datacenters was so important.

The second priority was to find a modern cloud solution that would solve infrastructure management problems, networking, high-availability, performance, and backup.

Hepta cloud is a modern cloud solution based on VMware virtualization technology hosted in datacenters in Zagreb, Osijek, and Vienna.

Solution

Heptabit implemented a hybrid cloud solution. Business-critical applications were migrated to the Hepta cloud. Other, less critical environments, such as testing and development, are kept in-house.

With this hybrid solution, TIS has solved a couple of really important issues, such as improved availability (Hepta cloud offers 99,9 availability), increased performance (SSD disks), and adequate backup. Investment in new hardware and people competencies was eliminated, all of these costs and complexities have been replaced with a single predictable monthly bill.

The whole migration process has been carefully planned and tested before the actual migration procedure. The entire migration procedure took just 30 minutes per service; so even though this was a very significant change, it hasn't impacted business operations in any way.

Next Steps

The collaboration between the two companies is very successful; both companies are satisfied with the cooperation and the benefits provided by the Hepta cloud. Companies are continuing to work together on the project of the redesign of TIS's on premise network architecture. As TIS's needs change, Heptabit will continue to act as a technology partner by helping them focus on their core business.
